Today the Maine Wire posted supposed evidence of more infidelity issues with Graham Platner.
Before I get into why it seems to me that this "evidence" was AI altered, I want to say I believe that Graham Platner cheated on his fiancée and now wife. All evidence leads to that conclusion and he hasn't denied it.
I also believe he is trying to be on a path of redemption (which we can juxtapose against Trump's approach, which is to never apologize, never engage in self reflection, never admit anything).
All of that aside, the evidence the Maine Wire posted today about this appears to be AI altered.
For anyone who doesn't know, the Maine Wire claims to be a news organization. I am not saying they have never reported accurately on something, but I am saying everything they do seems to be laced with racism and various phobias about people who aren't straight or Christian, to the point that a lot of their work is unintelligible.
They hold the conservative minds in the state of Maine very captive, which is a disservice to conservative thinking overall.
I also happen to spend a lot of time looking at AI generated content, since, you know, I use AI in my own content creation process. And I help other creators use AI in their content and make sure their AI truthfully discusses reality. Most people I work with are hyperconcerned about not spreading outrage and misinformation, which is good.
So when I looked at the Maine Wire story, I immediately saw red flags.
First, there is an image of Graham Platner supposedly pulled and timestamped from this woman's phone. The problems: the time stamp box looks too small and is missing AM or PM in the time stamp itself. Also, the Messenger icon in the bottom left doesn't make sense. That should be a different icon that looks like a square and an upward facing arrow. AI is really good at making overlays like this, but it will usually miss details.
Second, there is an image of this woman sharing her story about her relationship with Platner, supposedly from August 2021. The time stamp box is not placed correctly or cleanly. You can see that it runs into the black header. It is also missing an AM or PM designation on the time.
I've been trying to recreate these issues on my own phone in order to disprove my theory that these are AI altered, and I have not been able to recreate these kinds of visuals.
Not that I am expecting a lot from the Maine Wire, but just mentioning: you don't have to make stuff up to try to prove what can easily be proven by simply reporting on reality.
