Why Renewable Energy Matters Beyond the Hype

By Christine Ann O'Connell · · Originally published on Facebook

The reason people want renewable resources (not Keystone XL and fracking) is because we are sick to death of the energy whiplash.

Given that, thank God, the wind blows every day and the sun rises every morning, why would we not leverage that so we have a future where we don’t worry about:

Despotic rulers of energy rich countries [like the current rulers of the Middle East, where actual human slavery is still an issue in 2026 (!!!)],

And

The very real resource limitations that exist on a single planet that is carrying 8 billion people

Those two things together, despotic elites and overshooting planet Earth’s carrying capacity, are putting the squeeze on humans

That’s why we don’t want to dump more money into pipelines that will be the death knell of the planet and which have, from a historical perspective, been used by despotic elites to put the squeeze on people

In all seriousness and not to be rude but is it more indicative of eating glue to ignore those issues or to not ignore them?

And yeah, new technology, such as renewables, will always be more expensive at first.

That is part of the definition of “new technology.”
